Aug 07 - Guernsey

 Aug 07 - Guernsey

As the good weather continues we went for another walk by the sea this morning.  It’s actually quite interesting along the coastline here as, apart from the nice beaches and clear blue sea, there’s also remnants from the various wars and occupations that Guernsey’s experienced over the years. One of these in particular near here is a ‘Loophole Tower’. This is one of fifteen built at various points along the coast in the 1700’s to deter possible French attacks after they’d declared themselves an ally of the Americans in the American Revolutionary War.

After a bit of a quick ‘Cooks Tour’ of this part of the island this afternoon we called in on some friends that were house sitting.  Not a bad job if you can get it and, with seven bedrooms, a tennis court, and 10m fish pond, I can think of worse places to stay while getting paid!
