Sept 06 - Ravenna to Rimini
Sept 06 - Ravenna to Rimini
Travel day.
A nice train journey along the coast this morning to Rimini.
On arrival we took off for a walk around the old town, and, although more well known for its seaside resorts, we discovered that Rimini actually has a very nice historical centre. Home to an attractive collection of ancient Roman remains and medieval buildings there’s also the very well preserved 2000 year old ‘Tiberius Bridge’ and the Augustus Arch built in 27 BC. There’s also Castel Sismondo, a rather imposing looking 15th century castle, on the edge of town.
For some months now JEM has been keen to go for a dip in the ‘Med’ so this afternoon we decided to check out the local beach, just 2kms away from the old town. With its reputation as a package holiday resort town we were expecting the worst and so we weren’t actually surprised when we got there, but, OMG it was horrible, there were literally thousands of hotel beach umbrellas lined up for miles! That apart though, she did go in, and I have it on very good authority that the water was nice and warm!

I'm glad the water was nice, because that would be the only redeeming feature surely!
